It's a movie goddammit, and movies have been known to get away without a script.

Ok, so there we are. Avatar has no story worth telling. It's ridden with clichés. It was, in the end, just a lot of blinding technology sitting atop a lame script.

Fine. Now let's stop complaining!

What if I were to tell you of a hunch of mine that I've been harbouring ever since I saw Avatar.

What if I were to tell you that Cameron, in my opinion, never wanted it to have a story.

He wanted us to marvel at his creation, enjoy the grand splendour of Pandora, awe at its flora and fauna and its ingenious race of inhabitants, feel quaintly uneasy at the sight of those futuristic killing machines, mech-warriors and what not, while basking in pure 3-D bliss all the time.

And that’s about all.

That justifies all the millions of billions of dollars put into making it.

A story, IMHO, would have been just an unnecessary distraction. This is art for art’s sake. Forget about cinema or story-telling or even a script. It works in a way that all those Rambo movies do. To look for a story would be a folly when you have been given a rare entry into a man’s personal world of fantasy where sights and sounds rule supreme, logic and emotions the least.Som Chaudhurihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14069670190906121050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2638861591041275993.post-9429105019479231732009-12-28T10:32:43.624+05:302009-12-28T10:32:43.624+05:30About the viewing experience, there isn't real...About the viewing experience, there isn't really much to discuss because like every milestone in technology if you have seen in it, there's no point telling you how it feels. And if you haven't, there's definitely no point telling you how it feels.
However, about the storyline, I think it being hackneyed and cliched has really helped the movie.... like you said, this is not a movie to be watched, it is to be looked at. At least, had there been a great storyline with suspense and thrill, perhaps I would have to look out for details relevant to the story and concentrate a lot on following them.
But thankfully, I didn't have to do that.
It was a comfortable ride through Pandora. You don't need to worry about what will happen to the love story. Early second half, it is confirmed eywa can take the backup of all data from Human 2000 and restore in Na'vi 2005. So Jake is going to become a permanent Na'vi, no worries about that. All the leading native Na'vi people talks in English (even among themselves) at times of emotion, - so no problem following the story either. So just sit back, and enjoy the ride of your lifetime through Pandora.
I doubt if Cameron spent even 5 of the 300,00,00,000 dollars budget for the story.
So, lets maintain the same proportion in the reviews!!!!
HAPPY WATCHING!!!Ranganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17035480004336503057noreply@blogger.com
